JOURNEY ↔ DESTINATION

Each a Unique Dimension of Totality

Week 34

Journey and Destination

Through decades of seeking I come across proposals like "The Journey Is The Destination" and "The Path Is The Goal." Such clever-sounding witticisms. No wonder I am confused. Why can't the Journey be what it is—the Journey, and the Destination be what it is—the Destination?
Week 34

The False Choice

If my Journey is my Destination, I am already here. Should I bother going anywhere? If my Path is my Goal, I am on the Path whether or not I set Goals. Why do I bother setting Goals? I no longer subscribe—neither clever-sounding witticisms nor those who spew them.
"The Journey is The Journey.
The Destination is The Destination.
The Path is The Path.
The Goal is The Goal.

Each is Important.
Each is Unique Unto Itself
and A Dimension of Totality."
Week 34

I Will No Longer Compromise

The Journey is Important. The Destination is Important. The Path is Important. The Goal is Important. Each of these is Unique Unto Itself and A Dimension of Totality. I will no longer compromise the Totality of Existence.
Week 40

Getting Lost on Purpose

For the longest time, I thought Life was a planned trip, complete with a travel itinerary and a tour guide. Now I realize that my travels are more like that Saturday when Cass and I "Got Lost on Purpose." We drove through unfamiliar streets and hidden lanes. We had no idea where we were going yet we could consciously choose our path.
Reflection

The Question Reframed

Rather than asking "is it the destination or the journey?" or "what SHOULD I do with my life versus what DO I WANT TO do with my life," the question becomes: "How do I want to best enjoy my journey while I make my way to the destination?"
Week 40

The Secret to Life

We focus way too much on where we're going and how we look while going there. The secret to Life is in knowing how to steer, who you're with, and what you'll do once you've arrived. Any beginning is a worthwhile beginning to your journey.
Week 40

Beauty Unfolds Along the Path

Through your intention of searching, you may discover as I have discovered, that in the process of aiming for your destination, the beauty of your path unfolds in magical ways. The most important journey you can take is The Journey Unto Yourself.
"Sacredness is not in the show of miracles,
But in the subtle beauty of ordinary lives,
Including your own."
Week 34

Rejecting Clever Witticisms

Through decades of seeking I come across proposals like, "The Journey Is The Destination" and "The Path Is The Goal". Such clever-sounding witticisms. No wonder I am confused. Why can't the Journey be what it is – the Journey, and the Destination be what it is – the Destination? Why isn't the Path the Path? Why can't the Goal be the Goal?
Week 34

Honoring Totality

The Journey is Not The Destination. The Path is Not the Goal. The Journey is The Journey. The Destination is The Destination. The Path is The Path. The Goal is The Goal. The Journey is Important. The Destination is Important. The Path is Important. The Goal is Important. Each of these: Journey, Destination, Path, Goal is Unique Unto Itself and A Dimension of Totality. I will no longer compromise the Totality of Existence.
Week 40

The Secret is Steering

You see, we focus way too much on Where we're going and How we look while going there, When the secret to Life is in Knowing how to steer, Who you're with, and What you'll do Once you've arrived.
"In the process of aiming for your destination,
The beauty of your path unfolds in magical ways."
Week 5

Objective vs. Subjective

I live with Two Universes: "The Objective" (External Universe, Content, Ambition, Destination, Drive, Goals, Achievement, Yang, Physical/Phenomenal) and "The Subjective" (Internal Universe, Context, Process, Path, Intuition, Subtle, Hidden, Yin, Non-Physical/Nuomenal). I can easily get caught up in either... But I know Life is not like that.
Reflection

Finding Fulfillment Accidentally

Jak Plihal: "A coach's real job is to have you to engage everything at your disposal to accidentally find fulfillment as you chase your goals." So true! [...] When you open up your field and engage with your heart mind, you'll find that Fulfillment will find you - instead of the other way around - because we honestly can't predict where fulfillment for us exists in every stage of our lives.
Week 15

Burning Bridges

I like burning bridges. That is, I like the original and true intent of why we must burn bridges: to cross the point of no return. My favorite vignette from the movie GATTACA was when "naturally born"... Vincent raced with his genetically engineered... brother Anton... Vincent always wins because he does not save any strength for the swim back. Vincent does not give himself an option to turn back. Vincent burns his bridge of "saving strength for the return".
Week 9

Uncertainty and Certainty

I'm OK with Uncertainty around the destination. I am beginning to experience the feeling of Certainty within.
